Learning to Read is Not Natural (Language and Literacy Session 1)

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

If you are responsible for teaching reading in grades K-6 or if you teach struggling readers in K-12, this session is for you!   The Language and Literacy series goes beyond the basics of reading and will deepen participants’ understanding of research based reading instruction by helping them understand the core language structures that support reading.  Learning to Read is Not Natural will delve into critical aspects of reading such as; how children learn to read and why some children struggle, the components of reading instruction and how to use them effectively, and why all components of reading are related and necessary to shape successful readers. Teachers will leave this session with ready to use ideas and strategies that will help all readers succeed!  Recommended prerequisite for Language and Literacy sessions 2 and 3.
